Alligator gar, and other large freshwater fishing?

Alligator gar fishing can be fun and they can fight like hell, but if you land one watch out for the teeth! They are not good eating at all(very bony). Best to use a pair of long-nose pliers to unhook the fish.Gar are not really a game fish species, and a garbage fish so killing it would not be a great loss! I would recommend using 25 pound test line, and a steel leader. Cut bait, or large live shiners would do for bait. As for a boat, any good 10 or 12 footer aluminum or otherwise would do!
